Unit 3 is about two Chinese Americans who were leaders of the Chinatown community in the early part of this century. In this lesson students are asked to reflect about the experience of being an immigrant "between two cultures."

TIME FRAME:

Two weeks.

PRODUCTS AND ASSESSMENT:

1. Students' reports about a contemporary figure who is a leader in their community.

2. Students' display of cultural objects brought from their countries.

3. Students' multimedia collages of American images mixed with images from their cultures around the theme of cultural diffusion.
